Tottenham World Film Club no.3: Chilean Film “NO” and Live Latin Music

From TWFC: Happily, it’s time to announce our excellent third film and music event at Tottenham Chances.

From 7pm on Saturday, 20th April we will be screening “NO” (2013) the acclaimed Chilean comic drama exloring the 1988 marketing campaign that toppled Augusto Pinochet’s 15 year dictatorship. This controversial, Oscar-nominated film was directed by Pablo Larrain and stars Gael Garcia Bernal. Check out the trailer and our full event programme here:

Bursting with emotion and inspiration, you will stride from the film into an evening of wonderful Live Latin Music from Kanti Qena and Yuri Betancourt of Lokandes fame. (, as well as Latin hot food and cold drinks.

We will also be screening two short films, including Irma, an intimate musical portrait of Irma Gonzalez, the world champion of women’s professional wrestling, and our own second short doc, Mothers of Tottenham, by TWFC volunteer Rebecca McGlynn.

You can also now watch the short “taster” version of our first TWFC short doc, High Road, if you missed it at our launch event in February:

Following Rosanna and Zuzanna’s excellent first animation workshop last month, the second installment will run from 3pm to 6pm at Tottenham Chances, leading straight into the evening event. You’ll hear more from Rosanna and Zuzanna about that shortly, but for now please enjoy this great stop-motion animation the group created last time:

You can buy tickets on the door, but why not make sure by booking online for the evening screening event (£5) or the afternoon animation workshop (£5), or take advantage of our combi-ticket to do both for just £8…

We’re always looking to involve new people in all aspects of the project, so if you’re interested in volunteering please come to Tottenham Chances at 6pm on the day.
