Our MP David Lammy gave it some welly, good to be able to cheer him on with no reservations. General opinion was that his was one of the best speeches on a day that got a bit repetitive.
Lammy ruffled the feathers of Stewart Jackson, the Conservative MP for Peterborough who objected to his implying that those opposed to gay marriage were similar to those who opposed civil rights for black Americans in the 1950s. “I would not take the back seat on the bus for Rosa Parks”. (I think that got a bit scrambled on the way out.) Blimey.
